I have a confession to make…I didn’t read much last year. I know the old adage, “Leaders are Readers”, but I’m not one of those people whose idea of fun is a good book and a quiet place to read it. I would much rather watch a movie, listen to music, sit in silence, or have my teeth drilled without novocaine. So, I don’t read because I love to read, I read because I need to read. I need to read because I need to grow as a person, a husband, a father and a pastor. With that said, the following is my reading list for 2014:
- When I Don’t Desire God – John Piper
- 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey
- A Quest For More – Paul David Tripp
- Give and Take – Adam Grant
- Strange Fire – John MacArthur
- Christ Formed in You – Brian Hedges
- Stonewall in the Valley – Robert Tanner
- The Truth of the Cross – R.C. Sproul
- Preach – Mark Dever & Greg Gilbert
- Ronald Reagan 100 Years – Ronald Reagan Library Staff
- How People Change – Timothy Lane & Paul David Tripp
- The Top Ten Leadership Commandments – Hans Finzel
- The Eye of Moloch – Glenn Beck
- The Greatness Principle – Nelson Searcy
- The Conviction to Lead – Albert Mohler
- Transforming Prayer – Daniel Henderson
- Living The Cross Centered Life – C.J. Mahaney
- Leaders Who Last – Dave Kraft
- The Holiness of God – R.C. Sproul
- King Me – Steve Farrar
- Developing the Leader Within You – John Maxwell
- The Richest Man in Babylon – George Clason
- God is Love: A Biblical and Systematic Theology – Gerald Bray

This list does not include the books, commentaries, theologies, histories, ect. I will read as I prepare to teach and preach. However, it is a good list of what I hope to accomplish…starting today!
